Edenhope Bills Trough

Visitors to Edenhope will be pleased to see that the old Bills Water Trough which was once located in the main Street and is now a feature item in this great land mark in the town..

It lets us know that in 1868 a indigenous men’s Cricket team from the district was sent to play cricket in England.

Chinese are  also featured in the display, which has  a  Chinese connection as many passed through Edenhope on their way to the Victorian Goldfields back in 1850ies.They walked from Robe SA to the Victorian goldfield to avoid paying a landing tax in Victoria .

Very well do Edenhope for preserving the Bills Water Trough and the display which is enjoyed by passing visitors.

If anyone who has photos of Bills Troughs please send them to billshorsetroughs@hotmail.com they will be very much appreciated.

What a wonderful installation, and lovely to see the trough incorporated into a display featuring several historical markers. Thank you for sharing it 😊
